A new Guardian investigation found that water rates in a dozen cities have increased by an average of 80% since 2010, with two in five households struggling to pay for water — leaving millions of people with unaffordable water bills.

Public health depends on water access so people can wash their hands to help stop the spread of the coronavirus. It’s time to guarantee access to clean and affordable water for all, to keep our communities safe.
