“It’s everywhere”: Educator perspectives on nicotine use in schools ([link removed])
As students return for a new academic year, educators are grappling with nicotine use in the classroom. Middle and high school educators report that student e-cigarette use is distracting from learning, difficult to monitor, and part of a wider issue that extends beyond the classroom. Youth vaping isn’t a problem that educators can tackle alone – strong policies are needed to remove these cheap, high-nicotine ([link removed]) products from the market where they are easily available to young people.

Discipline is not the answer ([link removed])
Schools play a central role in confronting and addressing youth tobacco and nicotine use, and there is a need for guidance on how educators and administrators should handle policy violations. This report provides suggestions for how best to address student tobacco and nicotine use at school, equipping students with the knowledge and skills to make healthy decisions and helping those who are already vaping to quit.

Local restrictions on flavored tobacco and e-cigarette products ([link removed])
Sales restrictions on all flavored tobacco products, including all types of menthol products, are gaining momentum at the local and state level. As of June 30, 2025, 418 jurisdictions and three Native American tribes have placed some type of restriction on the sale of flavored tobacco products, and of those, 157 have fully comprehensive policies that prohibit sales of all types of flavors across all products, including menthol/mint/wintergreen flavors that are sometimes exempted from flavor policies, at all retailers.
