John, did you know that every 10 seconds, a child has been forced to flee their home since the conflict in Sudan began?
14-year-old Mona* is one of them. She was walking home from school when gunshots rang out in her neighborhood. Terrified, Mona ran home and hid under a bed with her siblings.
Three days later, her family was finally able to escape, leaving everything behind.
John, when conflict, disaster and disease strike, children around the world face moments like these — moments when everything changes. Your generosity helps ensure these moments aren’t the end of their story.
John, if you've been waiting for a moment when your gift can make a significant difference for children in crisis, there’s no better time than right now.
With unprecedented aid cuts and rising humanitarian needs, we need everyone to do their part.

Mona does her schoolwork on her bunk inside the school where she and her family are living.
With 6.5 million children forced to flee their homes, Sudan is now experiencing the largest child displacement crisis in the world. Conflict has devastated families:
-
25 million people — half the population — are facing extreme levels of hunger.
-
5 million children and mothers are facing acute malnutrition.
-
Over 1 million children in Sudan are at high risk of cholera – a preventable and treatable disease – and hundreds of young lives have already been lost due to the ongoing outbreak.
Save the Children is providing shelter, food, safe water, child protection services and education in crisis-affected areas. Last year, we reached 3.1 million people – including 1.7 million children – in the region.

Save the Children makes it possible for Mona to continue learning while away from home.
Mona now attends a school supported by Save the Children that doubles as her temporary home. She’s happy to be safe and in school and looks forward to the day when she can return home to her friends. Her dream is to become a doctor so she can help those who are sick and also support her family.
This is just one example of our work in crisis zones around the globe. to ensure children are safe, healthy and learning in the midst of the world’s toughest challenges. Your gift today can change the lives of children caught in conflict, disaster and poverty.
