Dear John,
The U.S. economy isn’t working for everyone. Many American families are bearing the brunt of inflation, as the cost of basic necessities continues to skyrocket.
President Trump’s travel ban will only make things worse.
Our new report — Trump’s 2025 Travel Ban: Who Is Affected and What It Could Cost the U.S. Economy [[link removed]] — details the sweeping economic and humanitarian toll of the Trump administration’s latest travel ban, which currently restricts immigration from 19 countries and may soon target 36 more.

The nearly 300,000 people from the 19 impacted countries who came in 2022 contribute extensively to the U.S. economy. In 2023 alone, households led by these recent arrivals earned $3.2 billion in income, paid $715.6 million in taxes, and held $2.5 billion in spending power.
They also fill critical jobs in industries facing major labor shortages, like healthcare, construction, and hospitality . As more Americans age out of the work force, the impact of the travel ban will be both immediate and enduring — there aren’t enough U.S.-born workers to fill in the gaps, and those gaps will only grow over time.
We can’t allow this new ban — bigger and more far-reaching than those from Trump’s first term — to fly under the radar.
