Thanks to war, conflict, economic catastrophes, and the climate crisis, global displacement rises every year. If you’re far from the places hit hardest, it’s easy to tune out the hardships that displaced people endure — but that doesn’t mean they don’t go on enduring these dangers with the hope of finding stability and security.
A few of those dangers are at the heart of a new longform report [ [link removed] ] at Inkstick. Working alongside photographer Maryam Ashrafi, Nidžara Ahmetašević and Andrew Connelly have done a deep dive into the landmines and border violence that haunt the journey for refugees and migrants leaving Bosnia and trying to reach the Europe.
Closer to home, Inkstick field reporter Taylor Barnes has written a doggedly researched feature [ [link removed] ] about the young Mormons who, horrified by Israel’s war in Gaza and its backing from Washington, have raised the banner of solidarity and called for an end to the bloodshed.
