Good morning BYD! Read below to learn about our recent Women’s Caucus event, vote on our Democratic endorsements for the general election, get the details on our General Body Meeting, and more!


** Vote on our endorsements for Mayor, City Council, and more!

All dues paying members have an opportunity to vote on who Brooklyn Young Dems endorses. This morning, everyone should have received a separate email from OpaVote with the ballot to vote on which candidates we should endorse for the November General Election.

Ballots must be completed by Monday, August 18th at 9:00am.

As a reminder, here are the races we are voting to endorse the Democratic nominees in:
* Mayor
* Citywide Races (Comptroller, Public Advocate)
* Brooklyn Borough President
* Brooklyn District Attorney
* Council Districts 35, 38, 39, 47

If you did not receive your ballot and believe that was a mistake, please reach out to Carlos in the WhatsApp or reply directly to this email.


** August General Body Meeting

Join us for our next General Body Meeting! We’ll be revealing the results of our endorsement vote and discussing the work we have between now and November, followed by a social. Here are the details:

Thanks to everyone who came to our Women’s Caucus Happy Hour in partnership with Pretty Informed Girls (PIG) ([link removed]) .

Over 45 young women in Brooklyn, including many new faces to BYD, came together to discuss progressive politics, fighting fascism, and our role in uplifting local women candidates for elected office. We were joined by Council Members Crystal Hudson and Shahana Hanif, candidate for District 47 Kayla Santosuosso, and a representative from the Zohran for Mayor campaign.

We still have lots of work to do, and we hope the relationships made from events like this can foster a community-centered network as you expand activism in Brooklyn and in your neighborhoods. For anyone interested in learning more about BYD’s Women’s Caucus and involvement in BYD more broadly, please reach out!
