I want to share some updates with you from Congress and across our nation. Here are three things you need to know:
1. The George Floyd Justice in Policing Act passed in the House of Representatives. The bill is supported by the NAACP, the Congressional Black Caucus, and the House Judiciary Committee – but Republicans intend to turn this crucial civil rights legislation into yet another partisan battle. I believe that human dignity should not be a divisive issue, and I call on my colleagues in the Senate to pass this bill.
2. The House Appropriations Committee held a virtual hearing this week to listen to the priorities of our colleagues and their constituents. As a leader on the committee, I am advocating to invest in voting rights, increased COVID treatment and testing in low-income communities, and support for farmers to have what they need to grow the food that feeds our country. 3. June 30, this upcoming Tuesday, is the quarterly filing deadline. My campaign for reelection is not on track to meet its fundraising benchmarks, and I need your help.
