The Practice of Listening to Your Feelings

Emotional sobriety is a key component of happy, sustained recoveries. But what is it exactly? According to recovery speaker and author Dr. Allen Berger, it’s our “emotional center of gravity,” or the calming space inside of us that allows us to feel grounded and balanced. So how do we nourish that space and peacefully navigate our recoveries?

In short, we have to recognize and attend to the connection between our emotions and our addiction. Once we begin routinely identifying our emotions, we can acknowledge, feel and carefully respond to our inner selves. Listen to our most recent podcast with Dr. Berger to develop a stronger connection between your feelings and your recovery.
