Emotional sobriety is a key component of happy, sustained recoveries. But what is it exactly? According to recovery speaker and author Dr. Allen Berger, it’s our “emotional center of gravity,” or the calming space inside of us that allows us to feel grounded and balanced. In short, we have to recognize and attend to the connection between our emotions and our addiction.
