Email from Rep. Salazar As always it is an honor representing you and your family in Washington, D.C. FL-27 Newsletter Vol. 119, Issue #15 Dear Friends/Amigos, This week was full of action as my team and I fought for the values that matter most to our community. Every step I take here is guided by the voices and stories I hear back home. Whether it’s on the House floor or in critical policy meetings, I’m making sure the priorities of District 27 are front and center. Your concerns shape my work and your voice drives every decision I make. We’re in this together. Let’s keep moving forward. Follow along on Facebook, Instagram, and X for updates from Capitol Hill and from across our district. And if you'd like to reach out directly, don't hesitate to call or write to my D.C. office at (202) 225-3931 or visit Salazar.House.Gov. Sincerely/Atentamente, María E. Salazar U.S. Representative (FL-27) DIGNITY ACT UPDATE WASHINGTON, D.C. – This week, I spoke with the press about my historic immigration bill: the Dignity Act of 2025. America’s immigration system has been broken for decades. It has overwhelmed our borders, enforcement is outdated, and Washington has failed to deliver lasting solutions. The DIGNITY Act of 2025 changes that. It’s a practical solution to help us move forward while protecting long-term immigrants. This is not amnesty. No pathway to citizenship. No federal benefits to those who broke the law. Here is what it does instead: Secures the Border: With a clear national strategy, and the tools law enforcement needs. Mandatory E-Verify: Every employer must confirm work eligibility, cutting off the jobs magnet that fuels illegal immigration. Restores order: Longterm undocumented immigrants can earn the right to stay, but only by passing strict background checks, paying restitution fees and maintaining good behavior. No handouts. No citizenship. And this costs taxpayers nothing. The program pays for itself through fines and fees. The DIGNITY Act is a final fix: compassionate but tough. It strengthens our economy, honors the rule of law, and protects American workers. You can watch a compilation of my interviews here. DEFENDING DEMOCRACY IN BRAZIL Since day one, I’ve called out Brazilian Supreme Court justice Alexandre de Moraes and his dangerous abuse of power. As a Member of Congress, I’ve used my voice and my platform to condemn the censorship, intimidation tactics, and political persecution he's carried out under the guise of justice. In any true democracy, there is no room for authoritarian overreach, no place for jailing political opponents, silencing dissent or weaponizing the judiciary branch to suppress free speech. The recent revocation of his U.S. visa is an important first step, but it’s not enough. We must go further. We need full accountability, international scrutiny, and diplomatic pressure to make clear that the free world stands against tyranny, no matter where it takes root. Democracy demands courage and we must never look away.
