ON THE DOCKET: Updated Flood Resources Texas Strong National Defense Congressional Veteran Commendation THE BRIEF: With about 100 people still missing after devastating floods, the Texas National Guard and local officials leading recovery efforts received additional international support this week when a specialized detachment from the Czech Republic arrived ready to help. The man accused of participating in a coordinated attack at an ICE facility in Texas has been caught, officials confirmed Tuesday. Congress is officially sending a package detailing $9 billion in spending cuts to President Donald Trump’s desk, minutes after midnight on Friday. FLOOD RESOURCES If you're a resident of Burnet or Williamson County, FEMA Individual Assistance and Public Assistance are now available. FEMA may provide Home Repair Assistance, Rental Assistance, Personal Property Assistance, Transportation Assistance, Medical and Dental Assistance, and Funeral Assistance for eligible applicants. You can learn more and apply for assistance here. The deadline to apply is September 4, 2025. To prepare your application, you will need the following information: Name and Social Security Number of primary applicant Name and Social Security Number of co-applicant (encouraged, but not required) Current contact information (phone number and/or email address) Current and pre-disaster addresses (if different), including ZIP codes Names of all occupants of the pre-disaster household Types of insurance held by the household Household pre-disaster annual gross income Losses caused by the disaster Bank account number and routing numbers for direct deposit of funds, if requested Williamson County Residents: Beginning Friday, July 18th, a Disaster Recovery Center will provide face-to-face help to survivors with damage. No appointment is needed. The center is located at: Williamson County EMS North Campus, Classroom A & B 3189 SE Inner Loop, Suite A Georgetown, TX 78626 Hours: 8 a.m. to 7 p.m. daily TEXAS STRONG This week, I joined many of my Texas colleagues on the House floor for a moment of silence honoring the victims of the July 4th floods. In Texas' 31st district, eight individuals lost their lives, and one remains unaccounted for. We mourn with those families and for our fellow Texans in Kerr County who also suffered tragic losses. DEFENSE APPROPRIATIONS This week, the House considered and passed the Defense Appropriations Act. The bill provides a 3.8% pay raise to America's servicemembers, improves Department of Defense efficiency and effectivness, and invests in new technology to enhance troop safety and readiness. With increased threats to the homeland, it's important that America invest in our military superiority to maintain peace through strength. CONGRESSIONAL VETERAN COMMENDATION The nomination period for the Congressional Veteran Commendation (CVC) program is open. The CVC is a nominations-based program designed to recognize both the military service and community service of Veterans living in the 31st Congressional District of Texas.
