Today, Trump visits Texas, where stricken communities are reeling after
devastating flash floods last weekend took the lives of more than 120
people, including dozens of children.

As hard as recovery will be for these communities, Trump has said he plans
to 'phase out' FEMA, which will make recovery much harder for other
communities in the future. [ [link removed] ]CNN REPORTS: Trump says he plans to phase
out FEMA after 2025 hurricane season.

FEMA is the agency millions of people rely on to survive, rebuild, and
find hope amidst the wreckage after hurricanes, wildfires, tornadoes,
earthquakes, and floods.

allies at WeNeedFEMA.com: "Don’t dismantle FEMA. Fund it fully and staff
it with qualified and experienced professionals."

Allowing Trump to end FEMA would be a catastrophic abandonment, severing
the lifeline communities depend on in their darkest hour.

Only Congress can stop Trump's plan. But will Republicans in Congress
cross Trump? They might. Every member of Congress knows their district
could face the next disaster. They know that if they let Trump dismantle
FEMA, voters will hold them accountable when their constituents are
stranded and nobody comes to help. Hearing from us now will make sure they
can't forget it.

Every signature on this petition sends a powerful message: We demand a
government that protects its people, that responds to crises, and that
invests in the safety of every American. We need FEMA, and we need it
fully funded and professionally staffed.
