Earlier this year, the Trump administration set a goal to fire 83,000 employees from the VA. Now, the agency has announced that it’s on track to reduce its staff by 30,000 employees by September.

John, it’s clear what the end goal of all this is for Trump and his administration: To dismantle and weaken the VA so much that they have an excuse to keep up their privatization grift.

But I refuse to sit by while Trump and the GOP tries to gut the VA and use our veterans as pawns in their political games.

I proudly wore the uniform and deployed several times in service to our country. So you better believe I’m doing everything I can to stop this.

Here in Western Pennsylvania, we’ve already seen reports that Trump’s hiring freeze affected life-saving VA clinical trials and medical research happening right here— veterans earned a heck of a lot more than that.

That’s a betrayal.

Where I’m from in Western PA, we know what it’s like to wear the uniform and have pride in our service. Here, patriotism isn’t just a word, it’s personal.
