Jack - PRT has approved a budget that solidifies drastic cuts. But the fight is far from over.
With no legislation yet passed in Harrisburg that would prevent drastic cuts, the PRT board was forced to adopt a budget [[link removed]] last week that would enact major cuts and fare increases. But the fight is NOT over.
If legislation passes the PA Senate providing more funding to statewide transit, PRT could revise this budget and prevent drastic cuts. The Governor's transit funding proposal passed the PA House with bipartisan support [[link removed]] , but it is now up to the PA Senate to finalize it. We're canvassing in key districts in Pittsburgh, but we still need your help.
Since the legislature is in budget overtime, THERE IS STILL TIME to contact your legislators and urge them to hold the line. Our service, our economies, and our communities depend on it!

Want to take your advocacy a step further?
Sign up to phone bank in key districts on July 8th with Transit for All PA!
It is critical to organize across rural and urban divides if we're going to win transit service for everyone who needs it across the state. That's why we're calling supporters in key small town/rural districts to help them tell their State Senators why transit is critical in their communities.
All are welcome for this virtual phone bank--the more volunteers, the more people we can call! We'll provide a brief training before we start calling.

Come to the next PRT board meeting on July 25th!
Even though PRT has approved this scarcity budget, we may be able to postpone the worst of the cuts. We need transit advocates from across the PRT service area to show up at the next PRT board meeting, and urge the board to

It's officially Bus Stop Summer--hit the streets with PPT to win more bus shelters!
Last year, we won the first-ever dedicated funds for new bus shelters in the City of Pittsburgh's budget. Now, we're helping the City assess the most eligible stops in Pittsburgh for new shelters and amenities--and we need help from you, the expert riders!
Here's two ways to help make Bus Stop Summer a success:
* Fill out our Crowdsourced "this stop needs a shelter!" form! [[link removed]] Is there a stop on your route that desperately needs a shelter? Maybe it has extra high ridership, or someone's already placed a DIY shade or makeshift chair there? If so, fill out our form and we'll send the info to the City for consideration!
* J oin us for an in-person bus stop audit blitz on July 30th! [[link removed]] We'll be meeting at PPT's Shadyside office, training up, and dividing into groups to evaluate bus stops across the city for eligibility. Check out the event link for accessibility info and more.

What can NYC's transit-focused mayoral candidate teach us about winning Transit for All PA?
Zohran Mamdani ran on a platform of free buses, and he just won the Democratic mayoral primary in the most populous city in the nation. We think that's pretty great!
Two years ago, Mamdani spoke to the national coalition of transit rider unions ( TRUST [[link removed]] ), of which PPT is part, about past campaigns he won around expanded, equitable transit service. That winning playbook? It's the one we've followed with Transit for All PA. [[link removed]]
