With no legislation yet passed in Harrisburg that would prevent drastic cuts, the PRT board was forced to adopt a budget last week that would enact major cuts and fare increases. But the fight is NOT over. 

If legislation passes the PA Senate providing more funding to statewide transit, PRT could revise this budget and prevent drastic cuts. The Governor's transit funding proposal passed the PA House with bipartisan support, but it is now up to the PA Senate to finalize it. We're canvassing in key districts in Pittsburgh, but we still need your help.

Since the legislature is in budget overtime, THERE IS STILL TIME to contact your legislators and urge them to hold the line. Our service, our economies, and our communities depend on it!

It is critical to organize across rural and urban divides if we're going to win transit service for everyone who needs it across the state. That's why we're calling supporters in key small town/rural districts to help them tell their State Senators why transit is critical in their communities. 

All are welcome for this virtual phone bank--the more volunteers, the more people we can call! We'll provide a brief training before we start calling.

Even though PRT has approved this scarcity budget, we may be able to postpone the worst of the cuts. We need transit advocates from across the PRT service area to show up at the next PRT board meeting, and urge the board to

Zohran Mamdani ran on a platform of free buses, and he just won the Democratic mayoral primary in the most populous city in the nation. We think that's pretty great!

Two years ago, Mamdani spoke to the national coalition of transit rider unions (TRUST), of which PPT is part, about past campaigns he won around expanded, equitable transit service. That winning playbook? It's the one we've followed with Transit for All PA.
