New Democrat Coalition Leadership issued a joint statement following the House passage of President Trump and Congressional Republicans’ dangerous bill.
“House Republicans just passed what is without question the worst tax and spending bill in modern American history. Full stop.
“For months, New Dems have joined the American people — who overwhelmingly oppose this legislation — fighting, imploring and even pleading with Republicans to recognize the obvious and stop this trainwreck. Instead, Congressional Republicans almost unanimously turned their backs on hardworking Americans, once again hiding in the darkness of night.
“There’s no other way to put it: this extreme package is the largest transfer of wealth from the working class to the ultra-rich our nation has ever seen. It will rip healthcare away from 17 million ([link removed].) Americans and food assistance ([link removed]) from tens of millions more, including millions of children. It will raise the price of everything from electricity ([link removed]) to groceries, destroy millions ([link removed]) of jobs, and take money
([link removed]) out of the pockets of working and middle-class families. It will threaten rural hospitals ([link removed]) , nursing homes ([link removed]) , and reproductive care ([link removed]) ...

** Note from New Democrat Coalition Vice Chair for Communications Marc Veasey (TX-33):
------------------------------------------------------------
“President Trump and Congressional Republicans' Big Ugly Bill is a bad deal for hardworking American families. Not only does this legislation hurt Americans now, ripping food away from hungry children and health care from hardworking families, but it also increases the deficit – burdening future generations all to give the wealthiest billionaires more tax breaks. There is still time to do the right thing – Republicans must join Democrats and kill this bill once and for all.”

4. $1,600 ([link removed])
How much the lowest-income households in the country will lose every year thanks to the devastating cuts in this bill, all while the highest earners get an additional $12,000 annually, and the top 0.1% get an additional $100,000 ([link removed]) annually.
5. 1.75 million ([link removed])
The number of construction jobs that will be eliminated by the bill’s attack on clean energy projects. This translates to $148 billion of annual lost wages and benefits for hardworking Americans.
