Dear Comrades,
Defund fascism. Fund abolition.
This isn't just a slogan—it’s a strategy for survival.
As repression intensifies, abolition must be more than a vision—it has to be practiced. That means building the material infrastructure our people need to survive, organize, and resist. It means mutual aid across walls, across crises, across attacks—and showing up for each other with strategy and care.
That’s why Critical Resistance is closing out June with a final call to help us meet our $21,100 midyear fundraising goal and fund abolitionist mutual aid in action.

Your gift powers mutual aid for abolition:
The Cross-Wall Strategy Retreat
This August, we’re bringing together imprisoned and outside organizers to strategize against repression. We’re sharing lessons, building plans, and coordinating action to make our movements stronger across walls. Support this historic convening by donating before July 5. Your donation supports participating organizations with travel, housing, food and more. ([link removed])

“We need to share our goals with one another, our strengths, our weaknesses—our values... TOGETHER we will get through these storms.”
— Kareem J Cobbins Sr,
imprisoned in Illinois
Every dollar helps fuel abolitionist strategy grounded in cross-wall organizing, political trust, and collective care. You don’t need to be in the room to have an impact—you can sponsor the work, uplift it, and help it grow.
The Zachary Project
Our mutual aid fund provides emergency support for CR Oakland members ([link removed]) and their communities experiencing crisis—housing insecurity, safety threats, health emergencies, and burnout. This fund has quietly sustained abolitionist organizers and our friends facing compounded harm in this political moment.
Free subscriptions to The Abolitionist
Over 4,800 imprisoned readers are receiving our latest issue—thanks to over 400 outside sponsors. We print, mail, and distribute this crucial cross-wall political education and movement building tool twice per year for survival, political clarity, and connection behind bars, free of charge. Support the project & subscribe today ([link removed]) ! New subscribers will receive the latest Issue 43 on censorship and repression.
Prisoner Solidarity & Correspondence
Through our mail program and phone line, CR shares resources and builds relationship with imprisoned people, especially queer and trans folks facing repression, censorship, and retaliation. Your donations cover postage and printing costs for corresponding with over 5,000 imprisoned people!
CR’s Local Campaigns & Coalitions
From defunding police and resisting ICE raids to closing prisons and building life-affirming resources, CR chapters are organizing to shrink the PIC in real time—and need your support to stay nimble, bold, and coordinated.
💫Mutual aid is movement infrastructure.
💫Abolition is a shared responsibility.
💫And defunding fascism starts by resourcing the people building liberation now.

#TakeTheMic: Why do you give?
One CR donor recently shared: “I support Critical Resistance because the abolitionist work they are doing is vital to securing true freedom for all our sisters and brothers...I hope that everyone reading this will choose to invest in our society today, because as the great Opal Lee stated, 'until we are all free, we are none of us free.'”
This month, we’re collecting messages from our donor community: Why do you fund abolition?
