In the wake of the third anniversary of the Dobbs decision, our 2025 Leadership Training Academy Fellows reflect on how abortion bans are reshaping their work — and what it will take to rebuild. In this new interview series [[link removed]] , three physicians share powerful insights from the frontlines of reproductive health care and what a path toward restoration looks like in a post- Dobbs world.
"The Dobbs decision eroded my trust in America, yet throughout the last 3 years I’ve been amazed by the ingenuity and unyielding resilience of the reproductive health community, and it is those individuals who have kept me grounded and determined.”

To mark the Dobbs anniversary, PRH staff and board members joined the Abortion Access Now (AAN) campaign on Capitol Hill to meet with lawmakers and demand transformative change. Together, we’re pushing beyond the limitation of Roe — advocating for the most expansive policies that center the people most harmed by abortion bans and systemic barriers.
AAN’s powerful vision includes: the right to abortion throughout pregnancy, expanded insurance coverage to eliminate cost barriers, and full access to care for immigrants.

In a new op-ed for The Nation, PRH President and CEO Dr. Jamila Perritt and Guttmacher Principal Research Scientist Rachel Jones take on the anti-abortion movement’s latest attempt to use shoddy science to undermine access to medication abortion.
A newly released paper from an anti-abortion group is raising alarm — not because of its findings, but because of its flawed science. Dr. Perritt and Jones reaffirm what decades of research and real-world use make clear: medication abortion is safe, effective, and trusted by both patients and providers.

PRH Responds: SCOTUS Rulings Undermine Bodily Autonomy and Endanger Lives
On June 18, the U.S. Supreme Court upheld Tennessee’s ban on gender-affirming care for people under 18 in U.S. v. Skrmetti , ruling it does not violate the Equal Protection Clause. This decision greenlights similar bans in other states — and threatens the safety and dignity of trans youth.
Make no mistake: this is part of a broader political agenda to erase queer and trans people, enforce rigid gender norms, and undermine bodily autonomy. Trump’s handpicked Court is advancing the same extremist playbook fueling abortion bans and attacks on LGBTQIA+ rights.

On June 26, the U.S. Supreme Court issued its opinion in Medina v. Planned Parenthood South Atlantic that Planned Parenthood and a Planned Parenthood patient did not have a right to sue South Carolina for prohibiting Planned Parenthood from being a covered provider under the state Medicaid program.
This case sets a dangerous precedent. This decision gives states yet another tool to politicize health care and withhold health care from those they deem less worthy, less deserving, and less trusted to practice bodily autonomy.

Capital B featured statements from PRH President & CEO Dr. Jamila Perritt in their coverage of a New York bill requiring hospitals to get permission for drug screenings — a vital step to end medically unnecessary drug testing that disproportionately targets and criminalizes Black and brown mothers.
