We’re half-way through PAWS Chicago Giving Day, and the Team Cat, Team Dog, and Team Both competition is heating up!

But this isn’t just a game. It’s about pets like Paisley, a three-month-old kitten found rummaging through a garbage pile in the alley behind PAWS Chicago’s Medical Center—likely desperate for food and warmth.

When our team stepped outside and saw her, she scampered right up to them—hungry, trusting, and hoping someone would care. That moment changed everything.

Paisley was ravenous but otherwise healthy. She quickly became a PAWS pet and received everything she needed: food, medical care, vaccinations, spay surgery, and a microchip—so she’ll never be lost again. Just days later, she was adopted from our Lincoln Park Adoption Center, safe and loved at last.

Paisley might not have made it if she hadn’t been lucky enough to wander into our alley.

At PAWS, we believe every cat deserves safety, care, and the chance at a home. And with your support, we’re stepping up in a big way:

Our public/private partnership with Chicago Animal Care and Control (CACC)—called 360@CACC—is a pioneering initiative focused on prevention, intervention, and adoption. And after one year, compelling evidence is in: the program is working.

By expanding lifesaving programs and strengthening our partnership with CACC, PAWS is reshaping animal welfare in Chicago. Our substantial investments in spay/neuter services, veterinary care, and staffing support prompted a 29% rise in adoptions at CACC and helped increase transfers to other rescue groups by 19% last year.
