Dear John,

This past week, Israel began a massive bombing campaign against Iran, killing hundreds and destroying homes and public infrastructure [[link removed]] . Israel claims that its war against Iran is in response to an imminent nuclear threat from Iran are patently false, and even denied by the United States' own spy agencies [[link removed]] . Israel’s actions threaten growing war and suffering in the region and across the world. Now, the Trump regime is threatening to become directly involved in the illegal attacks on Iran.

Right to the City Alliance demands that the United States government take no military action against Iran and end its aid to and military collaborations with, apartheid Israel, including ending US military and political support for Israel’s genocide against Palestinians in Gaza [[link removed]] .

A bipartisan group in Congress is demanding that Trump seek authorization under the War Powers Act [[link removed]] before taking any military action against Iran. Senator Tim Kaine and Representatives Ro Khanna and Thomas Massie have taken the lead on this legislation. Now, it's your legislators’ turn: Email your members of Congress and demand they sign onto this resolution. [[link removed]]

President Trump has approved billions of dollars in military aid to Israel in his short time in office, exceeding the already massive aid Israel receives from the US. Along with the killing of tens of thousands of Palestinians in Gaza over the past 20 months, Israel has used US-supplied weapons, bombs, training, and logistical support to perpetrate one of the most systematic destruction of housing in modern history. In turn, Israel’s current bombardment of Iran is completely reliant on US aid.

Trump’s threat to deepen US involvement in Israel's militarism and human rights violations come as his administration seeks a US military budget that would exceed $1 trillion– including provisions for expanded US military involvement in domestic immigration enforcement– as the White House and GOP cut billions of dollars in funding from vital federal food, healthcare, and housing programs.
Across the country, people are rising up against [[link removed]] the Trump regime's–and its billionaire backers and beneficiaries–shameful and dangerous policies. All of this is situated amid ongoing crises and suffering shaped in large part by the United States’ disastrous “forever” wars in Afghanistan and Iraq launched a generation ago.

By acting against war, militarism, and genocide today, we avoid the deadly disasters of the past. And, we simultaneously strengthen our fights for economic and social priorities that represent the interests of the vast majority of working people and their families–whether it’s dignified employment, meaningful education, sustainable and affirming healthcare, empowering political participation, or homes for all.

In solidarity,
