USCRI clients and friends celebrating World Refugee Day in 2019
Dear Friend,

World Refugee Day is this Saturday. Held every year on June 20^th, it’s a day to honor the resilience and determination of refugees worldwide. This year, World Refugee Day is especially important.

The COVID-19 pandemic has hit refugees, asylum-seekers, and other immigrants especially hard. U.S. borders are closed, forcing people to wait even longer in crowded refugee camps where their risk of contracting the virus is increased by close quarters and inadequate sanitation. Refugees already in the U.S. are experiencing huge job losses and many are not eligible for unemployment or other government benefits. Vulnerable children fleeing on their own are being turned away at the border and placed at great risk of harm.

But you can help. In honor of World Refugee Day, we ask you to make a generous donation to USCRI.

With your help, a young mother will be able to pay her rent during the pandemic and avoid being evicted. A child will have a chance to go to school, for the first time ever (and if it’s online, we’ll make sure she has a computer and Internet access). A family will build a new life of peace and dignity in a community that welcomes them.

And USCRI will continue our advocacy in Washington, D.C., fighting for humane and just policies on behalf of the most vulnerable people around the world.

Times are tough, but with your help, we can show our true American values of equality, generosity, and kindness. Please make a gift ([link removed]) in honor of the hundreds of thousands of refugees who continue to make our country a better place to live and thrive.

With gratitude,

Eskinder Negash
President and Chief Executive Officer
