In these difficult times, Sara and our team are standing in solidarity with our community and the Black Lives Matter movement. Sara is sharing what she would do as a member of Congress to tackle these issues, while also elevating Black voices and their experiences.
Today we want to give you a recap of what Sara and our team have been up to.
Sara WROTE A PIECE FOR THE SAN DIEGO UNION-TRIBUNE ([link removed]) on the future of policing in San Diego and the need for national reform.
"We need a serious rebalance of our priorities and our budget. We need to make greater investments in social services. We need to demilitarize the police. And we don't have time to wait."

Our campaign also held a virtual town hall ([link removed]) to discuss how we can continue the work for equality and justice beyond the recent protests.

"[Voters need] someone who has experience making and implementing policy at the federal level who understands all the levers of power that the federal government has to really offer San Diego -- someone who is not going to take time to get their sea legs, but hit the ground running on day one and make sure San Diegans gets the representation they need as these incredibly important decisions are being made."

Finally, Sara talked with _EMPOLITICS ([link removed]) _ about her experiences and why we need more young women running for office.
"The most important advice I can give [young women in politics] is that you shouldn't wait to run for office until you feel ready - your voice matters, right now...You do not need to be beholden to outdated ideas of who looks or sounds like a leader. You are enough just the way you are."
