If you read Barbara Bry's [[link removed]] and Todd Gloria’s [[link removed]] commentaries in the San Diego Union-Tribune on Sunday, you can see that they both oppose defunding the police and support police reforms.

But when you examine the specifics of each candidate’s commentaries, the differences become clear.

2. Barbara supported a truly independent police review commission years ago, while Todd Gloria, you guessed it, supported a ballot measure to create the commission only after the police union withdrew their opposition. 3. Todd Gloria now supports “ending mass surveillance,” but fails to mention that he was a cheerleader who helped negotiate the so-called Smart Streetlights program that’s been criticized by privacy advocates. That’s the difference between being a leader and a follower.
