Since we last wrote to you, we've documented the following press freedom violations:
- Hunger is ravaging Gaza journalists under Israeli siege.
- Hong Kong targeted independent media outlets, journalists, and their families with "unreasonable" tax audits.
- Indian journalist Bijay Pradhan was assaulted while covering alleged construction corruption.
- Sudanese blogger Abduljalil Mohamed Abduljalil was detained over corruption reporting.
- DRC journalist Samy Kambere Malikidogo was shot by a police officer while covering a protest.
As authoritarianism continues to rise globally, the forces working to silence independent journalism remain relentless. That's why your support for CPJ is more urgent than ever.
A gift today will help strengthen the infrastructure and protections journalists need to keep reporting the truth--often at great personal risk.
And right now, your gift will be matched, doubling your impact--but only until midnight tomorrow, May 31. We're so close to reaching our $100,000 goal. Will you help us cross the finish line?
With gratitude,
John Weis
