Dear Friend,

Since we last wrote to you, we’ve documented the following press freedom violations:

- Hong Kong targeted independent media outlets, journalists, and their families with “unreasonable” tax audits.

- Hunger is ravaging Gaza journalists under Israeli siege.

- Indian journalist Bijay Pradhan was assaulted while covering alleged construction corruption.

- Sudanese blogger Abduljalil Mohamed Abduljalil was detained over corruption reporting.

- DRC journalist Samy Kambere Malikidogo was shot by a police officer while covering a protest.

The forces working to silence independent journalism remain relentless. That’s why your support for CPJ is more urgent than ever.

A gift today will help strengthen the infrastructure and protections journalists need to keep reporting the truth—often at great personal risk.

And right now, your gift will be matched, doubling your impact—but only until midnight tomorrow, May 31. We’re so close to reaching our $100,000 goal. Will you help us cross the finish line?

With gratitude,

John Weis
Chief Development Officer
