Hi John, [link removed] [[link removed]]
In just two weeks, WAVE’s summer youth internship program begins—and this year, I have the privilege of supporting it from the other side. As a former intern and now Program Manager Assistant, I’ve been reflecting on how deeply the internship shaped me. I want to share some of my journey with you and offer you the opportunity to invest in this year’s interns. [[link removed]]
When I began, I expected a typical learning experience. What I found instead was an encouraging, empowering community that changed my life. With the support of our program manager, Darrell, and my fellow interns, it felt more like a family growing together. Having a space where I could speak freely and not be embarrassed to ask questions was freeing. I feel lucky to have found a place as welcoming and supportive as this one so early in my life.
Before this internship, I was shy and socially anxious. I have been a part of many organizations and activities for youth, however none of them came close to leaving the lasting impact that this movement has. I’ve begun to find my voice–and the power my voice can have.
I'll Support WAVE's Youth Program [[link removed]]
The community and growth I experienced, paired with my passion for social justice work made it an easy choice to accept my current position with WAVE. It also is the reason that I know this program is so important to our community and other young people in the area.
Your support of WAVE’s youth program helps shape youth like me into the next generation of leaders. [[link removed]] It creates a space where young people feel safe, empowered, and inspired to take action against gun violence.
Please consider donating to WAVE Educational Fund. Your gift doesn’t just fund a program—it empowers future changemakers, just like it did for me. [[link removed]]
Thank you for believing in the power of young people and the importance of building a safer, more just world.
Warmly,
Kaylee Bahr
Program Manager Assistant
