** June (Socially Distant) Chapter Meeting
------------------------------------------------------------

THURSDAY, June 18 @ 6pm - 7pm
Alameda Park Gazebo (1400 Santa Barbara St, Santa Barbara)
Wear a mask, something to sit on.

With protests and uprisings all over the world in response to the deaths of Breonna Taylor, George Floyd, Ahmaud Arbery, and countless others, more people are waking up to and confronting deep inequality. As people participate in protests to affirm Black lives and stand against police brutality and broken budgets, they are also becoming more aware of the ways in which systemic racism is enabled and intensified by the exploitation all working people face under capitalism.

Many of us in this chapter and nationwide have been challenged to bring our previous organizing, before and in response to the economic crisis of COVID-19 in alignment with BLM and other black-led organizing against police brutality. We see this challenge as necessary for our growth; as socialists, we must be able to nurture long-term anticapitalist projects while supporting and uplifting our allies and interconnected causes.

The question for us is: how do we grow, as a chapter, and as organizers, and how do we evolve our work so that we can support these goals? Come join us for this open discussion in an in-person (still socially distanced) June chapter meeting, as well as updates from community partners and working groups. Please bring a mask.
