New Zealand First Pragmatism stands out in the Government Budget.

In a week dominated by political horseplay – Budget 2025 demonstrates New Zealand First pragmatism. Initiatives that will make a real difference for kiwis.

- Real growth opportunities - $200m for a co-investment fund to unlock natural gas in New Zealand, Over $600m for Rail upgrades and $84m to support the Government’s goal to double exports
- Targeted business support - 20% depreciation on plant, machinery, and other assets so businesses have the room to invest and grow.
- Defending our borders - Total $4.2 billion Defence spend and $35m to stop illegal drugs getting into the country
- Boosting the front line - $480million extra funding for frontline police and $14 million for Maori and Pasifika wardens, and the Maori Women's Welfare League,
- Backing our Seniors - $154m to lift the income threshold for SuperGold rates rebate and $24m for Aged Care.

Budget Day is a set piece event on the political calendar and presents an opportunity for the Government to chart our nation’s course.

And your party, New Zealand First, brings real-world experience with a focus on practical policies that work. We bring plain common sense.

We bring the fight to ideological radicals such as the Greens and Te Pati Maori – no more virtue signalling, no more fiscal lolly scrambles or fairy-tale idealism.

We are proud of what we’ve achieved in Budget 2025 – our party is delivering real growth opportunities, defending our borders, targeted business support, and backing our seniors.

Our Ministers have knocked it out of the park when it comes to hard-nosed government delivery.

The Hon Shane Jones delivered our Budget 2025 response where he said: <[link removed]>

"There's nothing wrong with aspiring to become wealthy. The Left stood against that. There's absolutely nothing wrong with teaching our children to stand up and by the sweatof the eyebrow, look after yourselves."

Shane Jones secured $200m for the Crown to invest in new gas fields - essential for energy security, energy prices, and economic growth.

“If we really want to address the current reality that we rely on imported coal, not domestic gas, to get through winter we must be prepared to stand alongside our petroleum sector as a co-investor. I say to my colleagues across the political spectrum, for the sake of energy affordability and security, be pragmatic about the role of natural gas, now and in the coming decades.”

Casey Costello secured wins for Seniors, Customs, and Associate Police roles.

"We want to ensure older New Zealanders can get the treatment and care they need in the best possible place."

Every one of our team fights for our values and lives by our name, New Zealand First.

We are fighting for our nation. We are fighting for you.

There is much more to come and with your continued support there is much more we can do.
