see? California has a new law on the books to help us build more
affordable housing – and Rob is making sure it’s enforced.

The Attorney General co-sponsored Senate Bill 1037 – a law which went into
effect this year and imposes bigger financial penalties when local
governments deny or delay the homes California desperately needs. The
message to cities and counties is clear: prepare your housing element on
time and follow state law when you receive a housing development
application.

Now, Rob’s issuing a legal alert to make sure officials across the state
know exactly what’s required – and to make it clear Rob is ready to act if
they break the law.

It’s on all of our communities to build their fair share of housing, and
this law gives Rob another tool to make sure local governments do their
part.

Rob has made it clear: building more homes – and keeping them affordable –
is a top priority. It’s why he launched a Housing Justice Team, and why
his office is working with the legislature to pass more laws that make
sure California is building enough affordable housing.

As the People’s Attorney, Rob is committed to solving big problems,
delivering real results, and making sure no one gets left behind.
