The Attorney General co-sponsored Senate Bill 1037 – a law which went into effect this year and imposes bigger financial penalties when local governments deny or delay the homes California desperately needs. The message to cities and counties is clear: prepare your housing element on time and follow state law when you receive a housing development application.
Now, Rob’s issuing a legal alert to make sure officials across the state know exactly what’s required – and to make it clear Rob is ready to act if they break the law.
It’s on all of our communities to build their fair share of housing, and this law gives Rob another tool to make sure local governments do their part.
