Allegheny County Controller Corey O'Connor has the inside track to be Pittsburgh's next mayor ([link removed]) after he bested incumbent Mayor Ed Gainey in Tuesday's Democratic primary.
The Associated Press declared O'Connor the nominee ([link removed]) . He'll face Tony Moreno in the Nov. 4 general election.
The result marks the second straight primary in which voters rejected an incumbent, and it's a setback for the progressive movement ([link removed]) that helped Gainey to power in 2021.
