Allegheny County Controller Corey O'Connor has the inside track to be Pittsburgh's next mayor after he bested incumbent Mayor Ed Gainey in Tuesday's Democratic primary.
The Associated Press declared O'Connor the nominee. He'll face Tony Moreno in the Nov. 4 general election.
The result marks the second straight primary in which voters rejected an incumbent, and it's a setback for the progressive movement that helped Gainey to power in 2021.
