Governor Walz surveys wildfire damage in Brimson

On Friday, Governor Walz and United States Senators Amy Klobuchar and Tina Smith  traveled to the Two Harbors area in Northeastern Minnesota to survey damage caused by wildfires. The Camp House fire, Jenkins Creek fire, and Munger Shaw fire have impacted an estimated area of over 32,000 acres. Local, state, and federal firefighters, alongside emergency management officials and volunteers are working to contain the fires as gusting winds increase fire activity. Photos from the Governor’s visit are available online.

*“The fires across Northern Minnesota have forced families to evacuate and caused severe damage. My thoughts are with those who have had to leave everything behind, and I extend my deepest gratitude to the wildland firefighters, first responders, volunteers, and emergency management officials who are working around the clock to contain these fires,”* said Governor Walz. *“The state is ready and committed to do everything in our power to respond to and suppress these fires and others across the state, and help impacted communities rebuild.”*
