Friend, we emailed you last week about the Department of Justice cutting funding for violence intervention and survivor support programs. Now, the Trump administration is abandoning us with a budget proposal that calls for even more massive cuts to public safety programs .
We can’t let the federal government’s neglect make the gun violence crisis work.
That’s why I was in Harrisburg earlier this week, talking to legislators from across the state — and across the political spectrum — about how important these programs are. What I heard time and again from legislators was: “Is this a priority for my constituents?”
As the state General Assembly is considering what to include in PA’s next budget, we need to make sure they hear from us that violence prevention is a top priority. Send a message to your legislator now urging them to invest in safer communities. [[link removed]]

President Trump’s proposed budget would cut $163 billion from domestic programs. That means cuts to organizations like Philadelphia’s New Kensington Community Development Corporation, whose Cure Violence [[link removed]] program prevents shootings before they happen. It means cuts to programs that prevent illegal gun trafficking, investigate and prevent violent crime, keep veterans alive, and help domestic violence survivors get to safety.
These are basic things that our government should be investing in to keep us safe.
With the Trump administration making reckless cuts to programs that work, it’s more important than ever that we leverage the power we’ve built at the state level.
Many people in your community have already sent a message to their state lawmakers urging them to coordinate funding and support for state-based violence prevention programs. Will you take 3 minutes to add your voice? [[link removed]]

P.S. Gun homicides have dropped an astounding 38% in Pennsylvania over the last two years, but all that progress is at risk. We need our state lawmakers to hear from us and fund state-based violence prevention programs. Send a message now. [[link removed]]
