President Trump’s proposed budget would cut $163 billion from domestic programs. That means cuts to organizations like Philadelphia’s New Kensington Community Development Corporation, whose Cure Violence program prevents shootings before they happen. It means cuts to programs that prevent illegal gun trafficking, investigate and prevent violent crime, keep veterans alive, and help domestic violence survivors get to safety.
These are basic things that our government should be investing in to keep us safe.
With the Trump administration making reckless cuts to programs that work, it’s more important than ever that we leverage the power we’ve built at the state level.
