Each year the Bill of Rights Institute asks educators to participate in our annual

State of Civics Survey . This survey helps us gain insight into your strengths, struggles, and needs in the civics space.


Help us provide you with better tools, resources, and accommodations for you and your classroom. The survey is now open and accepting responses!

Take the survey today and share it with your fellow civics educators.

300 educators who respond will receive a BRI swag package and all respondents will be entered to win a drawing for a $500 Amazon gift card.

The Bill of Rights Institute is joining the celebration of educators for Teacher Appreciation Week! Help us continue to highlight the good work educators do year-round through the

National Civics Teacher of the Year contest . Nominations are now open for the 2025-2026 school year!

Nominate Someone for the Award


Civics teachers in grades 6-12 are eligible to be nominated by fellow teachers, administrators, students, parents, or community members. All nominated teachers will be asked to submit a short essay to BRI as part of the competition.


Ten finalists for the National Civics Teacher of the Year Award will be announced in August, at the start of the 2025-2026 school year &mdash; and the National Civics Teacher of the Year will be named on Constitution Day on Sept. 17, 2025. The National Teacher of the Year will win a $5,000 prize and all remaining finalists will receive $1,000.
