As a Dad, I have been worried about the effect that social media is having =
on our kids for a long time.=C2=A0
=C2=A0
I am delighted that National MP for Tukituki Catherine Wedd has shown initi=
ative and drafted a member=E2=80=99s bill, which will keep our kids safer o=
nline by restricting access to social media for under 16s.=C2=A0
=C2=A0
This Bill is about protecting children from bullying, addiction and exposur=
e to inappropriate content, and builds on our successful ban of cell phones=
in classrooms =E2=80=93 a move that principals and teachers tell us has be=
en transformational.
=C2=A0
Our kids deserve to grow up in a safe environment, both offline and online.=
It=E2=80=99s time we put stronger protections in place to keep them safe f=
rom harm.
