I wanted to reach out after a long but encouraging day at the State House to say thank you! More than 1,000 of you signed our petition to Make Polluters Pay, which we delivered with our testimony before the Environment and Natural Resources Committee. MCV testified alongside Maine farmers, law professors, youth, fellow environmental advocacy organizations, community leaders, businesses, and others for what was more than three hours of supportive testimony. Together, we shared why Maine taxpayers and communities should not have to pay for the damage the world’s richest fossil fuel corporations are causing to our state and how a Climate Superfund Act would right this wrong.

Tomorrow, we will be back at the State House to testify on another really important climate bill that aims to reduce reliance on expensive oil and gas, by ensuring homes, businesses, and vehicles are powered with 100% clean, affordable electricity by 2040.
