Dear John,

I wanted to reach out after a long but encouraging day at the State House to say thank you! More than 1,000 of you signed our petition to Make Polluters Pay, which we delivered to lawmakers with our testimony before the Environment and Natural Resources Committee. MCV testified alongside Maine farmers, law professors, young people, fellow environmental advocacy organizations, community leaders, businesses, and others for what was more than three hours of supportive testimony. Together, we shared why Maine taxpayers and communities should not have to pay for the damage the world’s richest fossil fuel corporations are causing to our state and how a Climate Superfund Act would right this wrong.

Tomorrow, we will be back at the State House to testify on another really important climate bill that aims to reduce reliance on expensive oil and gas, by ensuring homes, businesses, and vehicles are powered with 100% clean, affordable electricity by 2040.

Will you show your support for climate action by signing our petition right now? I'll be delivering it to lawmakers tomorrow with my testimony.

I support 100% Clean Electricity in Maine by 2040

Clean, homegrown energy is already powering thousands of jobs in Maine, and it's getting cheaper every year. With the right policies in place, we can stabilize energy costs, boost our economy, and reduce pollution — all while taking meaningful action on climate change. That's why we're calling on Maine's elected officials to pass a bold plan to achieve 100% clean electricity by 2040. Thanks in advance for adding your voice in support!

Onward,
