Puff Bar uses pandemic to position itself as “the perfect escape” to youth and young adults ([link removed])
During a pandemic that attacks the lungs, the FDA's inadequate partial flavor ban has allowed disposable e-cigarettes like Puff Bar to remain on the market and put a new generation at risk for nicotine addiction, according to a New York Times report ([link removed]) . In response, the American Heart Association says that Puff Bar is only “the tip of the iceberg” when it comes to the tobacco industry using a pandemic to ingratiate itself with the public.

Calabasas, California –The city council passed an ordinance to ban the sale of e-cigarettes. The law will go into effect in six months.

Louisiana – The state legislature passed a bill prohibiting vaping in a motor vehicle when a child is present. State law already prohibits smoking when a child is present in a vehicle. The bill now moves to the governor’s desk for consideration.

New Hope, Minnesota – The city council passed an ordinance that prohibits the sale of flavored tobacco products (except menthol, mint, and wintergreen), caps the number of tobacco retail licenses at 19, and prohibits the sale of tobacco products in pharmacies.

North Carolina – State legislators are discussing a bill that would amend a law that created eligibility for a reduced excise tax for modified risk tobacco products. The bill now places the responsibility on the manufacturer to inform the N.C. Revenue Department of the modified-risk designation in order to qualify for the reduced tax rate.
