*4.  News from the Justice Department’s Tax Division*

________________________________________________________________________

The U.S. District Court for the Southern District of Florida filed a civil injunction suit against tax return preparer Nia Daniel [ [link removed] ], seeking to bar her from owning a tax preparation business and preparing tax returns. Daniel is also restricted from assisting or training others in tax return preparation through at least Jan. 27, 2028. In addition, the court ordered Daniel to disgorge $446,000 in ill-gotten gains she received from her return preparation business. Daniel agreed to both the injunction and ordered disgorgement.

Revenue Procedure 2025-19 [ [link removed] ] provides the 2026 inflation adjusted amounts for Health Savings Accounts (HSAs) as determined under section 223 of the Internal Revenue Code and the maximum amount that may be made newly available for excepted benefit health reimbursement arrangements (HRAs) provided under section 54.9831-1(c)(3)(viii) of the Pension Excise Tax Regulations.
