Friend --

Detroit DSA has a lot coming up as we close out the summer and gear up for fall!

2019 Douglass Debs Dinner
Saturday, September 21
6–9 pm

Don’t miss the hottest event of the year where we paint the town RED! Metro Detroit DSA will be hosting its annual Douglass-Debs dinner Saturday, September 21, 2019 at 6 pm at UAW Local 600. Special guest speakers include our very own Rep. Rashida Tlaib.

The Douglass-Debs Dinner is our premier fundraising event of the year. The funds raised enable us to continue organizing around Medicare for All, a Green New Deal, Public Education, and more. This will be a celebration of all the work we’ve done, and of our growing community.

We need your support! Get your tickets today—and invite a friend or five. Tickets start at $40, and are sold through Eventbrite <[link removed]>.

If you’d like to support us by taking an ad out for your organization or business in our program booklet, email [email protected] <mailto:[email protected]>.

Municipal Elections
We are backing candidates for City Council in Ferndale, Southfield and Westland. If we want to re-shape politics we need to start at the local level, and we have some fantastic candidates running for office. Can you join us for a canvass?

Labor Day Parade
Monday, September 2
Gather 8:30 am
Parade kicks off promptly at 9:30 am

Join Detroit DSA and community and faith-based groups at the Labor Day Parade! We will be leafleting for Bernie before the parade kicks off. We’d love a big turnout for this! It’s a really fun day. In 2015 we passed out 1,500 pieces of lit for Bernie at the parade. Let’s make it 2,000 this time. Look for the red Detroit DSA banner. Meet up on Michigan Avenue between Wabash and 14th Street, east of the old train station.
