This weekend: Concert for Peace

Victoria Embankment War Memorial

A special Concert for Peace to commemorate the 80th anniversary of VE Day and VJ Day will take place this Sunday from 12pm-4pm.

The family-friendly concert will feature performances from the Band of the Royal Engineers, Nottingham Military Wives Choir and the Ukrainian Community Choir, as well as sounds and songs from the wartime era, and audience participation. Bring your own picnics, chairs and blankets to enjoy the concert, and there will be food vendors too.

Admission is free and tickets are not required. Free parking is available at County Hall. The event is presented by Nottingham City Council and Nottinghamshire County Council, in partnership with Experian, Arc Partnership and Via East Midlands.

Together, the pair must interrogate the many characterful suspects that reside at the manor, in order to catch the conniving culprit and solve the crime of the century!

Postcode Lottery

Hundreds of neighbours in Nottinghamshire will be celebrating tomorrow (Saturday 3 May) after scooping £12.1 million on People’s Postcode Lottery - the biggest prize of the year so far.

The Postcode Millions pot has landed in the NG5 7 area in Arnold. Winners have been told they can expect windfalls of at least £1,000 depending on how many tickets they play with. The prize amounts and the full winning postcode will be revealed during a special event at Forest Recreation Ground on Saturday morning. Anyone playing in the full postcode area will bag the biggest prizes!

Charities in Nottinghamshire postcodes received £823,850 in Postcode Lottery funding awards in 2024, including Home-Start Nottingham, Citizens Advice Centre Nottinghamshire, The Helpful Bureau, and Broxtowe Women's Project.
