CLEAN ENERGY INSIDER
APRIL 30, 2025
REAMS REPORT

Dear Friends and Colleagues,

Welcome back from Spring Recess! I hope you had a chance to unplug and rest because it’s going to be a full sprint starting this week until the end of May.

I know you are busy, so I wanted to flag that we are days away from the CRES Energy Leadership Summit on May 7th at the Royal Sonesta on Capitol Hill in Washington, D.C. There is still time to register, ([link removed]) but space is extremely limited as we get closer to capacity.

This summit comes at a crucial time in energy policy. We’ll bring together voices from Congress and the Administration such as U.S. Senator John Curtis, Reps. Buddy Carter, Mariannette Miller-Meeks and Juan Ciscomani as well as key industry stakeholders who will discuss their recommendations for a pathway to create more reliable, affordable and cleaner energy.

The summit focus is on the federal landscape and the importance of advancing an all of the above energy approach to meet President Trump’s energy dominance agenda. With unprecedented demand for energy due to AI and manufacturing expansion, energy tax credits are front-and-center in the conversation surrounding the right approach to catalyzing energy investments like nuclear, hydrogen, solar and wind power, and geothermal technology in addition to oil and natural gas.

Permitting reform and how the U.S. can be a manufacturing powerhouse will round out the CRES Energy Leadership Summit. And there will be plenty of time for networking to hear the latest from energy leaders and insiders.

This is just one example of how CRES’ advocacy goes beyond the halls of Congress, and it’s only done with your support. Please don’t hesitate to reach out to learn more about how we can work together to protect policies that strengthen American energy dominance.
Sincerely,
Heather Reams
CRES President

WHAT CRES IS HEARING
“By supporting cutting-edge technologies like carbon capture and storage, nuclear energy, and next-generation geothermal, the Trump Administration is ensuring America leads in both energy production and environmental innovation — producing the cleanest energy in the world. Moreover, by ending the Biden-era pause on liquefied natural gas export approvals, the U.S. is sharing cleaner energy with allies, reducing global emissions, and creating American jobs — building on President Trump’s first-term successes, where the U.S. led the world in greenhouse gas emission reductions.” – President Trump in an Earth Day statement ([link removed]) .
––

“To meet our nation’s energy needs and decrease the cost of fuel, we must deploy an all-of-the-above energy strategy, which includes leveraging domestic biofuels.” – Senator Kevin Cramer (R-N.D.) in a statement ([link removed]) .
––

“Our country is blessed with abundant natural resources and an entrepreneurial spirit that uniquely positions us to power both our economy and the world—enabling U.S. leadership in innovation, energy production, and manufacturing alike. Many of the investments that make this possible are enabled by current tax provisions, including some from the Inflation Reduction Act.” – Senator Lisa Murkowski (R-Alaska) in a statement ([link removed]) .

WHAT CRES IS SAYING

About the Administration’s Offshore Wind Energy Stop Work Order…
“While today’s announcement is disappointing, President Biden’s reckless administrative actions following the election have forced each decision to be re-reviewed—even those which undertook full lengthy permitting processes,” said CRES President Heather Reams. “With all reviews, we encourage timely completion as regulatory certainty is one of the underpinnings of successful energy markets. We hope the Trump Administration reconsiders its decision and allows the Empire Wind 1 project to continue construction. Projects like these support American workers, port reinvestment, domestic manufacturing and homegrown energy development across the country.” – CRES President Heather Reams in a statement ([link removed]) .

About the Updating Permitting Technology for the 21st Century Executive Order…
“We applaud the President’s ‘Updating Permitting Technology for the 21st Century’ executive order as a timely commonsense directive to move past outdated permitting processes and modernize environmental reviews,” said CRES President Heather Reams. “The government needs to embrace advances in technology that have become commonplace in American business. Instead of cumbersome physical paper processes, digital systems should allow for more instantaneous sharing of information and can benefit project analysis, accountability for agencies, reduce delays and accelerate all energy infrastructure. We believe timely implementation of this executive order will play a crucial role in truly fulfilling the promise of permitting reform and reducing burdens for projects across the country.” – CRES President Heather Reams in a statement ([link removed]) .

CRES President Heather Reams participated in a panel at the Morgan Stanley Women Energy Directors Network (WEDNet), in Washington, D.C. This event featured Rep. Fedorchak (R-N.D.), and former U.S. Senator Mary Landrieu. Together, with a group of over 20 women leaders, they discussed the current federal landscape for clean energy initiatives.

CRES President Heather delivered remarks at the Dynamic Sustainability Lab at Syracuse University and the Sustainability & Energy Value Advisors Summit during their Energy Climate and Sustainability Transitions symposium. Heather presented CRES’ role in protecting critical clean energy tax credits and the wider conservative climate conversation. This engagement took place over two days, highlighting energy storage, supply chains and global energy innovation.

CRES’ Vice President of Policy and Advocacy, Christina Baworowsky, participated in several events during San Francisco Climate Week. These included a fireside chat, “Carbon Newbie Summit,” and several panels discussing the current federal landscape around clean energy initiatives. Christina talked about how CRES’ work is crucial when it comes to conservative messaging and was joined by scores of attendees.

CRES’ Vice President of Communications, Mary Collins Howell, introduced a roundtable discussion about clean energy investments in Virginia Beach, Virginia featuring U.S. Rep. Jen Kiggans (R-Va.) and local industry leaders.
