The Toll of Trump’s Tariffs
([link removed])
Trump rode into office on promises of lower prices and support for rural America. But his tariff policies will deliver the exact opposite. While tariffs can be a powerful tool to support domestic industries and workers, Trump’s tariffs will only bring chaos.
In our recent article, we break down how Trump’s tariffs will affect families at the grocery store and farmers in the field — and explain a policy that would actually defend both.

Youth Activists Gather for Climate Justice!
In March, after months of organizing, Food & Water Watch New Jersey interns hosted a Youth Climate Convergence!
The day brought together more than 60 young activists from middle school-aged to college graduates from across the state. In a day of learning and connection, they shared organizing tactics and strategies and more opportunities to get involved. Learn more about the young organizers and climate justice in New Jersey. Iowa Defeats Bayer’s Cancer Gag Act!
For years, farmers and rural families have sued Bayer for harms caused by its premier pesticide, glyphosate. But the chemical industry is seeking immunity from such suits through state law. This year, we’ve been fighting the Iowa Cancer Gag Act, and this month, the bill died in committee! ([link removed])
The fight isn’t over yet — the ag chemical industry has pushed similar bills in other states and at the federal level. But this is a huge victory for Big Ag accountability and for Iowans suffering at the hands of this industry.

Hear from Cory Booker at our virtual benefit!
Last month, Senator Cory Booker broke the record for longest filibuster, using all 25 hours to speak out against the Musk-Trump regime. In May, we’re privileged to host him as a keynote speaker at our virtual benefit celebration!
Attend the celebration on May 13, 3:30 ET, to hear from Sen. Booker, Zephyr Teachout, Rep. Ro Khanna, Jane Fonda, and more.

Food & Water Watch staff and volunteers attended 20+ Hands Off protests!
On April 5, people gathered in more than 1,100 rallies across all 50 states to protest the Musk-Trump administration. Our food, water, healthcare, and civil rights are under attack, but actions like the “Hands Off!” rallies —including ones we led in Des Moines, IA, and Allentown, PA ([link removed]) — show that broad swaths of the country are coming together to fight back. Check out ways to get involved with Food & Water Watch near you! ([link removed])

Action: Stop Dangerous Cuts to Food and Water!
Right now, lawmakers are working to fast-track cuts to essential services and programs through Congress. Their budget reconciliation proposals include billions in cuts that threaten school lunches for kids, Medicare and Medicaid, clean water projects, and much more.
While slashing funding for food, water, and families, this budget proposal calls for trillions in tax cuts for billionaires and corporations. We can and must stop this outrageous “Reverse Robinhood” from becoming law! Take action today to defend food and water funding! ([link removed])

How You Can Protect Yourself Against Microplastics
At last month’s Livable Future LIVE event ([link removed]), we heard from Food & Water Watch experts on the health threats of microplastics in our water and how you can help fight for protections.
These tiny bits of plastic are showing up in our blood, our organs — even our brains! The need for protections is clearer than ever, and we’ve found a way we can force the EPA to take action.
Send a message to your governor to ask them to be one of our seven champions for microplastic-free water. ([link removed])
