For Trump, this attack on our public media isn’t just about killing Sesame
Street or saving money. Funding for our public media costs each taxpayer
just $1.60 per year.

This is about silencing independent journalism, enriching corporate media
giants over public interest, and gutting vital educational and cultural
programming. If he succeeds, local stations are sounding the alarm that
they could quickly be forced off the air, especially in rural areas where
public media stations may be the last locally-owned broadcasters in their
communities.

It’s NOT a popular move. A recent poll found that only 24% of adults
believe the government should stop funding public media – and now it’s up
to us to make sure Congress hears that message loud and clear.
