Despite its proven benefits, take-up and continued usage of digital financial services (DFS) lags in many low- and middle-income countries. Though this challenge is multifaceted, the cost of using DFS, particularly mobile money, is a key barrier. However, little has been done to systematically measure and monitor the true costs of conducting DFS transactions, including official fees, extra informal charges, and non-monetary costs such as failed transactions. In this webinar, Xavier Gine (World Bank) and Brian Mwesigwa (IPA) will provide a high-level overview of the results for Year 2

of the Transaction Cost Index, which builds on the results from Year 1. Ria Zapanta (IPA) will then walk through our new Toolkit

, which is designed to help regulators, firms, or researchers who wish to measure consumer costs when using digital financial services. The webinar will conclude with a Q&A session allowing participants to discuss findings with the research team. The webinar will be moderated by William Blackmon (IPA).

We look forward to seeing you on April 30th!
