Chair's Corner

Aloha Fellow Republicans,

As we all know, the party should be committed to law and order, fairness, and transparency, it is essential that we embody the very values we advocate. These are traits that we need to apply to instances where our own internal processes in all we do, especially our State, Precinct, County, and District election meetings...should be held in accordance with our bylaws. Together we should strive for integrity if we are to continue on the path of success and if we wish to maintain credibility with our constituents and uphold the principles we so passionately promote.

Integrity begins at home. If we demand fair and transparent elections statewide and nationally, we must first ensure the same standard within our party operations. Chairs and committees must remember that our bylaws are not optional guidelines—they are mandatory directives that must be adhered to rigorously. Ignoring or bypassing rules undermines our credibility and weakens our foundation, and comprises the agreement we submit to the State to uphold the bylaws we create.

Now, Looking ahead, President Trump's recent executive order to implement paper ballots nationwide highlights the necessity of our precincts being robust, well-organized, and ready. Our precincts form the grassroots core of election integrity, and their readiness is crucial. Now more than ever, we need dedicated volunteers engaging directly with the Office of Elections, observing and participating actively to safeguard the integrity of the voting process.

I urge each one of us, from county chairs, district leaders, and precinct members, committee participants, to recommit to upholding the highest standards of accountability and transparency within our party. Let's demonstrate our principles through action, ensuring the Hawaii Republican Party is a model of integrity, preparedness, and responsible governance. We have no time for those who comprise the party and what it stands for. We need those who believe in all-around election integrity, the party, the people, the state, the country, and our President who is fighting for all of America.

Let us set the standard we seek, together!
With respect and resolve,
Tamara McKay
State Chair, Hawai‘i Republican Party

You can still call your Reps and Senators on this VERY BAD Bill

On Friday (last week), the Hawaii House passed Senate Bill 401 ([link removed]) , legislation that would expand the current ban on "assault pistols" to include certain rifles and shotguns in addition to banning standard capacity magazines. The bill will now head back to the Senate for a concurrence vote. This is the last opportunity to stop this bill before it heads to the Governor's desk.

Please contact your Senator today and urge them to oppose Senate Bill 401 and the procedural “gut and replace” tactics used to advance this bill. (find your senator here ([link removed]) )

Additionally, please call House Leadership and politely request them not to bring Senate Bill 401 for a floor vote given the deceptive political maneuvering that undermines a fair and open legislative process.
* Speaker Nadine K. Nakamura – (808) 586-6100
* Vice Speaker Linda Ichiyama – (808) 586-6220
* Minority Leader Lauren Matsumoto – (808) 586-9490

The flyer/image above shows how the anti-gun legislators used procedural maneuvers to bypass deadlines and the committee hearing process by stuffing language from a defeated semi-automatic firearm ban bill into a new bill. The original bill, House Bill 893 ([link removed]) , did not receive a committee hearing in the Senate by the legislative deadline and should have been defeated for the year. On March 13^th, however, the Chair of the House Committee on Judiciary Committee inserted the language from HB 893 into SB 401, thereby bypassing a Senate committee hearing on the bill.

Not paid for by the Hawaii Republican Party. No candidates or committees endorsed.

No proceeds go towards the Hawaii Republican coffers. This event is a stand-alone event, and is promoted solely for the purpose to inform the HRP membership.
