Emergency Campaign:
Support Vulnerable Families in Gros Morne, Haiti

Haitian asylum seekers cannot catch a break. Instead of receiving compassion and support from the international community, they continue to be apprehended and deported back to a lawless land. As their country spiraled out of control amid heavily armed gangs who have already claimed over 90% of the nation's capital as well as the main roads.

Since the beginning of the new US administration, two deportation flights, one on February 4th carrying 21 people ([link removed]) and another on March 18 with 46 passengers landed in Cap-Haitien. Only half of these U.S. deportees had been convicted of any crime while the rest had done nothing wrong other than being undocumented which is an administrative issue, not a crime.

On April 1st, the U.S. Coast Guard deported 98 Haitians ([link removed]) who were trying to reach a Turks and Caicos Island by boat. Once again, sending them to Cap-Haitien, a city that is feeling unprecedented pressure and is unable to absorb these new arrivals. Deportees are given $50 to return home, however with the main roads controlled by the gangs, most decide to remain in the north, some relocating in the Gros Morne community where our partners are stepping up an emergency response program.

Goal:
Distribute $225 over 6 months to 200 families who are unable to pay for food, clothing, medical care or housing.

We thank you for your support.
