Planned Parenthood is proud to highlight the work of Black Mamas Matter Alliance (BMMA) during Black Maternal Health Week. Now in its eighth year, this important week, founded and led by BMMA, marks a time for all of us to raise awareness about the alarming pregnancy-related death rates among Black mamas. BMMA amplifies the voices of Black mamas and centers the values and traditions of the Reproductive and birth justice movement.

Black women have always been at the forefront of movements for justice, bridging families, communities, and change. With reproductive freedom now under escalating attacks in every corner of the country, it's time to lift the voices, perspectives, and lived childbirth experiences of Black people. It is fitting that Black Maternal Health Week falls during National Minority Health Month.

Planned Parenthood is proud to showcase Black Mamas Matter Alliance, a national network of Black women-led organizations that lead the way to expand access to care for Black mamas before, during, and after pregnancy.
